Natural stone is a collective name for thousands of types of stone. The appearance and properties of natural stone are defined by how natural stone was formed: by the river, by volcanoes, the formation of mountains...
Each natural stone is unique, since no place in the world is going through the same geological processes or do not have the same composition. This is why a natural stone of the same type can differ in appearance and properties.
Commercially, natural stone is divided into a few major groups: granite, marble, limestone, basalt and slate are the most important. This commercial subdivision differs from the subdivision science.
On the scientific level, there are three main groups. Magmatic rocks are created by cooling a liquid magma. Sedimentary rocks from the agglomeration of particles detached by decomposing existing rocks or by the deposit of limestone particles in water. Metamorphic rocks are created by transforming existing igneous or sedimentary pressure and / or high temperature.
