Sandstone
Sandstone is a detrital rock, resulting from the aggregation and cementation of sand grains. It is therefore a coherent and hard rock. These grains are often composed of silica (and sometimes grains of feldspar and mica black), but they may have different compositions. The sandstones are used in constructions, carving, grinding wheels and natural stones.
The streets of Paris were paved in Fontainebleau sandstone, until replaced by granite, less slippery.
